I use to make them all the time, but I just used milk, bananas, vanilla and brown sugar.
1 cup milk
1 banana
1/4 cup brown sugar
Blend then add in:
1 cup ice (Break the cubes first if you use tray ice)
1/2 real vanilla extract
tiny pinch of salt(optional)
pinch of cinnamon (optional)
If you want it thicker, use some canned condensed milk, which is how they make it in the carribean.
Peel ripe bananas
Chop into 1'; sections
Freeze in baggie - one banana per baggie
When you are ready to make the shake add to a blender: one bananna's worth of frozen chunks of banana (about 1 cup chunks, 2 T. sugar, a dash of vanilla, pinch of cardamom, cinnamon or nutmeg or any combination, and just enough milk to cover. Blend till smooth.
The bananas will keep for about 5 months frozen. Don't forget to date the bags with permanent marker so you can keep track of how old they are. Or slip a small piece of paper with the date on inside of the bag.
This is what I put in mine:
1 banana, sliced
frozen strawberries,
a scoop or two of vanilla ice cream
some Dole (combination of orange, strawberry, banana) juice
The measurements are to your own taste.
